Who we are

LumeXcel is operated by Denra Tech LLC, 4030 Wake Forest Rd, Ste 349,Raleigh, NC 27609. For questions about this policy or about your data, write to [email protected].

Students under 18

Most people sitting BECE are 14 or 15. If the student is under 18, a parent or guardian must create and hold the account, and by doing so consents to the processing described here on the student's behalf. A guardian can ask us at any time to show them everything held about their child, correct it, or delete it.

What we collect

The AI tutor

When a student asks Aura a question, the text of that question and the relevant course context are sent to OpenAI to generate a reply. Aura also accepts photographs and documents — a snapshot of handwritten working, a diagram, a page of a textbook, a file you upload — and those are sent to OpenAI in the same way.

So do not type personal information into the tutor, and look at what is in the frame before sending a photograph. Aura does not need a name, a school, a face or a phone number to explain a past question. We do not send your account details, your payment records or your contact information to the AI provider, and we do not keep your conversations with Aura on our servers.

Payments

Mobile Money payments (MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash — formerly Vodafone Cash — and AirtelTigo Money) are processed by Paystack. Card payments are processed by Stripe. Each provider handles your payment credentials under its own privacy policy; we receive only a confirmation and a reference.

Cookies, and what stays on your device

We set two cookies and no others: a session identifier and a session token, which together keep you signed in. They cannot be read by scripts in the page, they are limited to the addresses that serve the app's data, and they expire with your session. We use no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no third-party trackers — which is why there is no cookie banner here to click through. Separately, the app saves your progress on your own device so that practice keeps working without a signal; that copy stays on the device, and clearing your browser's data removes it.

Emails we send

We email you about your account — confirming your address, receipts, and warning you when access is about to end. Unless you turn it off, we also email you when a new exam, subject or feature arrives. You can change that in your notification settings at any time, and those emails carry a link that lets you change it without signing in. Turning them off does not stop the account emails.

How long we keep it

Practice history is kept for 36 months after your last sign-in, so that a student who returns for the next exam series still has their progress. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes and then discarded. When you delete your account we remove your personal data and either delete or anonymise the practice history.

Who else sees it

Only the companies that make the service work, and each only as far as its job requires: Paystack and Stripe for payments, OpenAI for the tutor, Railway for hosting and the database, and Resend for the emails described above. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Most of those companies are outside Ghana, so your data is stored and processed abroad — principally in the United States and Europe. We use them because there is no equivalent service hosted here; each is bound by its contract with us to protect the data and to act only on our instructions.

Our YouTube channel

We publish our own short videos on our YouTube channel, LumeXcel Ghana, using YouTube API Services. We use them only to upload our own videos to our own channel, set their details, and post the first comment on them. We do not ask you to sign in to YouTube through LumeXcel, and we do not access, collect or store any information about your YouTube account or what you watch.

When you watch our videos on YouTube, YouTube's Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy apply to what YouTube collects. If you ever authorise an app to use your Google account, you can withdraw that access at any time in your Google account's security settings.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold, correct anything wrong, delete your account, or object to a particular use. Write to [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
